Driveways in Rotherham
Resin, block paving and tarmac driveways, paths and patios for homes across Rotherham, Bramley, Wickersley and Whiston.
Local Driveway Team
Driveways Sheffield lays new driveways, paths and patios for homes across Rotherham as well as Sheffield. Our recent work here includes a large resin job in Bramley, and the team that plans your driveway is the same team that digs it out, builds the base and lays the finished surface.
We install resin bound driveways, block paving driveways, tarmac surfacing and garden patios, along with the walls, steps, drainage and fencing that often go with them. Every job starts with a free site visit, and you will have a written quote within 2 working days.
Recent Job
A big project in Bramley: about 150 m² of resin bound surfacing in Gunmetal with an Onyx border. The old red block paving at the front and the concrete slabs round the side and back were lifted, and the driveway, side paths, a new patio and the steps up to the French doors were all laid in resin. New composite fencing went in along the boundary at the same time.
Watch the Work
A short walk round the finished job: the Gunmetal resin driveway with its Onyx border, down the side path beside the new composite fencing, and round to the new patio and steps at the back of the house.
There are more finished jobs in our gallery of driveways and patios.
What We Install

Permeable, smooth and available in colours from buff to Gunmetal, with a contrasting border if you want one.

Laid on a properly dug-out base in the colour and pattern you choose, and easy to repair a block at a time.

Black or coloured tarmac for new driveways and resurfacing, with a typical driveway laid in one to three days.

Indian stone, porcelain and resin patios on a proper base, with steps and walls where the garden needs them.

Granite setts, cobbles and natural stone for a traditional finish on older properties.

Pressure washing and re-sanding to bring an existing driveway or patio back to life.
Planning
Most front driveways don't need planning permission, as long as the surface is permeable or the rainwater runs off onto a lawn or border within your own property. The rule covers any new or replacement hard surface over 5 m² in a front garden.
Resin bound surfacing and permeable block paving meet it as they are. Tarmac and standard concrete may need a soakaway or extra drainage, which we plan in at the site visit.
A new or wider crossing over the pavement needs approval from Rotherham Council, and on an A, B or C classified road you will need planning permission first. The council asks for a parking area of at least 2.5 by 5 metres. You make the application yourself; we can give you dropped kerb advice and build the new driveway to meet the kerb.
If your home is listed or in a conservation area, check with Rotherham Council's planning team before changing the front garden, as different rules can apply.

Questions
Yes. We lay driveways, paths and patios across Rotherham, including Bramley, Wickersley and Whiston, as well as throughout Sheffield and North Derbyshire.
Gunmetal, a dark grey resin bound mix, with an Onyx border around the edge. Resin comes in a wide range of colours, from buffs and browns to greys and black, and we bring samples to the site visit.
Usually not. A new hard surface over 5 m² in a front garden only needs planning permission if it is not permeable and the rainwater cannot run off within your property. Resin bound surfacing is permeable, so rainwater drains straight through it.
You apply to Rotherham Council for the dropped kerb yourself, and the council asks for a parking area of at least 2.5 by 5 metres. We can advise on the application and build your new driveway to meet the kerb.
